Malone-Hatcher will likely arrive at U-M around 250 pounds and will need a year to bulk up before hitting the field. A redshirt season is expected, but depending on how other young depth develops along the defensive line Malone-Hatcher’s versatility is something that could maybe get him a look early.
Rivals.com Midwest Recruiting Analyst Josh Helmholdt: “Malone-Hatcher took reps at both defensive end and linebacker throughout his career. Defensive end still looks like the likely position for him in college. Malone-Hatcher showcases a great first step and has good speed to the quarterback despite adding 15-20 pounds since his sophomore season ended. He's still mastering the finer points of the position, but the raw physical tools that have attracted coaches are still present.”
Saint Joseph Head Coach Gandalf Church: “I think Michigan saw his character and the interest all rooted from there. He's very explosive and quick to the ball. He has great measurables. I think that's what stands out most about his game, and probably what Michigan saw in him.”
