Michigan will be returning to Europe for its spring 2018 trip, but not to Rome. Harbaugh left it up to a team vote, and while destinations like South Africa and Rio were mentioned, another won out.

"We took a straw poll," Harbaugh said. "Paris, Normandy and London. Rome was great ... there was so much to see, but one of the things we thought about after the trip was to go to multiple places, not just stay in one place.

"There was so much to see in Rome — it was unbelievable. There is in Paris, but we're there to see Paris, Normandy and London."

Harbaugh isn't certain how practices will be split ... that will be determined at a later date. The Wolverines practiced three times in Rome.

"We'd like to practice in Paris and in London," Harbaugh said, "split up the practice this time."

In other news, associate athletic director for football Jim Minick has left for a job in the private sector, Harbaugh announced.

"He's going to take a job in the military," Harbaugh said.

Minick, nicknamed "The Colonel" in the building due to his Marine Corps service, was one of Harbaugh's best friends. He took the job in January 2015 and was a voice between Harbaugh and the athletic administration.

"No doubt, he was great," Harbaugh said. "When we were building this foundation he did a tremendous job ... a lot of jobs. He did them very well and has put us in a very good position going forward."

Associate head coach Biff Poggi is also leaving the department, reportedly for the head coach job at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.
