Tom Brady isn’t washed up after all.

A week after one of his worst games in recent memory in a home loss to Kansas City, he bounced back with one of the best first quarters of his career on his way to 447 passing yards in a 36-20 win at New Orleans. He threw for 177 yards, was 5 of 5 on third-down passes and notched a trio of touchdowns in the first 15 minutes.

Elias Sports Bureau reported that Brady joined Warren Moon as the only quarterbacks age 40 or older in NFL history to throw for at least 400 yards and three touchdowns in a game. Moon accomplished the feat in October 1997.

Some have reported that the key to slowing Brady is to play more man-to-man defense. He didn’t seem too concerned in the postgame.

“At this point, I’ve played a lot of different things. Man, zone, blitz … I mean everything,” he said. “I think good defense is good defense and good offense is good offense. It comes down to a lot of individual matchups, winning them and making the plays. Whether it’s man or zone, everyone has to be on the same page.

“If you’re going to get man you better beat it, if you’re going to get zone you better beat it, if they’re going to blitz you better beat it. Otherwise, you’re just going to get more of it.”
