How'd you think the defense played against Air Force?

“Don Brown did a great job with halftime adjustments, limiting the quarterback triple option and taking away the dive. We contained the quarterback and the pitch in the second half, and he did exactly what was needed at halftime.”

What have you seen from Purdue?

“Coach [Jeff] Brohm did a great job at Western Kentucky — what he did for their program has been well documented. I said earlier today he should be the early favorite for Big Ten Coach of the Year.”

What memories do you have of your dad coaching at Purdue?

“I remember going there one year and Jim Herman completing a crossing route to a tight end with numbing repetition. Purdue won the game, and the drive home was not pleasant. I drove with my uncle Jerry and that was the first time I got to drive a car — I was about 12 or 13 or so, and I kept it on the road. Actually I take that back, that wasn’t the first time I drove — it was the first time I drove with someone other than my dad.

"I don’t think I ever played there. I was hurt my sophomore year in 1984 when we played them, and in 1985 we played them here. We might have gone there and played in 1986, but I don’t recall.”

What's the routine like after a victory?

“My dad and mom have been legendary, in that they invite a lot of people over to their house after a big win. Jon Falk was there on Saturday with his wife Cheri, there was a general there, along with Sarah and the kids. It reminded me a lot of when we were kids and our parents would do that — a lot of food, and my mom would cook for days.”

How many gallons of chocolate milk do you drink a month?

“Several. I would be darned tough to beat [in drinking milk]. Milk is a great natural steroid.”

What's your favorite building on campus?

“The Big House. Michigan Stadium has really stood the test of time — the tunnel, the sell-outs, the game atmosphere, its loudness and how there’s no music being pumped in or laser shows, it’s pure. I think of the whole campus like it’s right out of a movie set. If you were making a movie of a college, you could pick darned near any building on campus and say that should be in the movie.”

If it's late at night and you stop at a gas station, what kind of beverage and snack do you buy?

“I would get a milk and peanuts. One snack always seems to take the edge off.”

What are your thoughts on offensive analyst Scott Turner?

“He’s a tremendous football mind. I worked with Chris Turner, who is his cousin, my first two years of coaching with the Oakland Raiders. Ron Turner was my offensive coordinator when I played with the Chicago Bears. I thought the job Scott did as the quarterback coach at Minnesota in 2016 was one of the best position coaching jobs I’ve seen in a long time.”
