John Borton • TheWolverine.com
Did Michigan receive a recruiting bump from an 11-2, Sugar Bowl championship season? If the results from last weekend are any sort of indication, the answer is no. The Wolverines received a rocket launch.

After inking the nation's No. 7 haul on Signing Day, Hoke received verbals from eight top 2013 recruits over the weekend, giving Michigan 10 top 200 pledges in the current junior class. That it happened on the same weekend that Michigan's basketball team upended Ohio State made the news that much sweeter for Wolverines fans.

Chris Balas • TheWolverine.com
They're 11-4 with a special freshman in Trey Burke at the point playing beyond his years, overcoming inconsistent play from sophomore Tim Hardaway Jr. and different forms of adversity just about every week. Tuesday night against Northwestern it was foul trouble, forcing them to play little used Blake McLimans in long stretches while redshirt sophomore Jordan Morgan and sophomore Evan Smotrycz sat.

Mark Snyder • The Detroit Free Press
Michigan showed its resilience on the road and the versatility to win however a game dictates. Facing a 1-3-1 zone defense, which U-M coach John Beilein praised extensively, the Wolverines were forced to bomb away from three-point range, shooting a season-high 38. Fortunately, they hit 14, including 3-for-5 in overtime.

Tim Sullivan • The Detroit Free Press
The eight weekend commitments included four offensive linemen: Parker (Colo.) Ponderosa tackle Chris Fox (No. 46 prospect nationally), Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis guard Kyle Bosch (No. 60), Peoria (Ill.) Manual tackle Logan Tuley-Tillman (No. 109), and Detroit Cass Tech guard David Dawson (No. 199). All cited the quality of Michigan's coaching staff -- as coaches and people -- in their rationale for committing.

Gilman (Md.) quarterback Shane Cockerille had been sitting on a single offer from Maryland for the last five months, but in the past few days he's seen his recruiting ratchet up a couple notches. On Thursday the 6-foot-2, 205-pound dual-threat southpaw pulled in a verbal from Temple, and over the weekend his coach told him he had an offer from Michigan.

Tim Sullivan • The Detroit Free Press
Michigan's exceptional weekend on the recruiting trail -- during which they picked up eight commitments within the Rivals.com top 250 for the 2013 class -- has laid the foundation for a second-consecutive excellent class. However, as much as national championships aren't guaranteed with excellent recruiting, a great recruiting class isn't finished 11 months prior to signing day, either.
