Michigan set to host WVU transfer Jose Perez on official visit
Juwan Howard and the Michigan basketball team are set to host West Virginia guard Jose Perez on an official visit from July 28-30. The news was first reported on Tuesday afternoon by Trilly Donovan, a college basketball insider account on Twitter.
Perez entered the transfer portal last week after one season with the Mountaineers.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound guard began his career with two seasons at Gardner Webb before transferring to Marquette. After a tough season with the Golden Eagles, Perez transferred for the second time, as he headed closer to home and joined Manhattan.
He spent one season with the Jaspers before transferring yet again, landing in Morgantown, West Virginia to play for Bob Huggins. Unfortunately for Perez, his request for an eligibility waiver was denied, and he had to sit out the 2022-23 season.
Now in the transfer portal for the fourth time of his career, Perez has locked in an official visit to Michigan. The career 15.1 point-per-game scorer will head to Ann Arbor in late July, where he will tour the facilities and meet with the coaches.
Maize and Blue Review has confirmed that Juwan Howard is personally recruiting Perez. In a few weeks, Howard will look to land Perez and fill one of the two remaining open scholarship spots.
