According to tweets from ESPN NFL insider Field Yates and FOX college football reporter Bruce Feldman, Michigan has hired longtime NFL scout Pat Perles as an analyst/assistant offensive line coach, Ferris State offensive coordinator Steve Casula as an offensive analyst, and Bethune-Cookman special teams coordinator/recruiting coordinator Aashon Larkins as an analyst.

If the former's last name sounds familiar, it's because he is the son of longtime Michigan State head coach and athletic director George Perles.

The younger Perles played linebacker at MSU and graduated from there in 1987, before spending time on the staffs of numerous NFL and collegiate teams, including Toledo (defensive line), the Los Angeles Rams (defensive assistant in 1992), Michigan State (tight ends, 2000-02), North Dakota State (offensive coordinator, 2005-08), the Kansas City Chiefs (linebackers and offensive line, 2009-11), Syracuse (offensive line, 2013) and most recently was a scout for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Casula, meanwhile, was not only the offensive coordinator at Ferris State during his two years on the job (2017-present), but also their running backs and tight ends coach.

Prior to his stint with the Bulldogs, Casula acted as the offensive coordinator and assistant coach at Davenport from 2014-16, and was even their interim head coach to close out his tenure there.

Before Davenport, Casula served the tight ends and H-backs coach at Colgate in 2013, tight ends and fullbacks coach for Western Michigan in 2012, and worked as a graduate assistant with the Broncos' offensive line in 2010 and 2011.

Larkins, meanwhile, joined Bethune-Cookman in 2015, and spent the 2014 campaign as the cornerbacks/special teams coach at Jacksonville State.

Prior to his time with JSU, Larkins spent eight years with The Citadel, where he led their defensive backs, linebackers and special teams.

He coached defensive backs at Wagner in 2005, the same position at Holy Cross in 2004, and got his coaching career started as a student assistant at Lehigh (his alma mater) in 2003.

These moves by U-M are just the latest in what has been a busy coaching carousel for the Wolverines as of late.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh saw defensive coaches Al Washington and Greg Mattison both depart for Ohio State in January, while bringing in offensive coordinator Josh Gattis (from Alabama) and defensive coach Anthony Campanile (Boston College) that same month.

The most recent transactions saw passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton depart for the XFL in early February, and Ben McDaniels named as the team's quarterbacks coach on Feb. 5.
