A look around the internet about what they're saying ahead of Michigan's game against Maryland.

Adam Rittenburg, ESPN: Harbaugh, Chip, Ed O and more of October's biggest coaching stories

Harbaugh, still searching for his first division or league title in the Big Ten, opened the season with a loss at Notre Dame, followed with lopsided wins against overmatched foes, and then saw Michigan rally from a 17-0 deficit to win 20-17 at Northwestern. Next up is 3-1 Maryland, coming off of an open week, followed by a visit from No. 16 Wisconsin and a trip to No. 20 Michigan State. If Michigan emerges unscathed, it gets a week off before Penn State comes to Ann Arbor on Nov. 3.

Angelique Chengelis, The Detroit News: Brown on UM's No. 1-ranked defense: 'What do you got to fix?'

“I’ve been around that four years in a row, around that at some point in time,” said (Don) Brown, in his third season at Michigan — the previous year he guided the No. 1 defense at Boston College. “You know what matters? It doesn’t matter at the end of the day. It matters at the end when you sit down and go, ‘All right, what do you got to fix?’”

It’s all about fixing things in game and during the pregame week of preparation. Sure, the rankings are nice, but there are always flaws.

Michigan is one of the most penalized teams in the country, including several costly defensive calls that have destroyed third-down situations and kept alive drives for their opponents.

“We’re not perfect. We’re not,” Brown said. “Obviously, the penalty issue — I stand up there every week and we talk about it and we address it and we’re going through it, and sometimes you’ve just got to shut up and play. So that’s my new tack. I’m not even going to talk about it."

Dan Murphy, ESPN: The September MVP for each Top 25 team

No one has been more consistently productive for the Wolverines in September than Winovich. Defense has been an anchor for Michigan in its competitive games so far this year, and Winovich has been at the forefront of that group. His 10.5 tackles for loss are tied for best in the nation, and his 32 total tackles are the second most on the Michigan roster. When the Wolverines have needed a big stop, he's the been one providing it through the first five weeks of the year.

Phil Steele, ESPN: Teams set to rise, fall due to schedule strength

The Wolverines are currently No. 15 in the AP poll, but have a three-week span that could push them right toward the top. They host Wisconsin, then visit in-state rival Michigan State and then after a bye get Penn State at home. The Wolverines could very well be the favorite in all three of those games, and that would have them make a drastic rise up the polls if they take care of business in those three crucial conference games.
