A source told TheWolverine.com Tuesday that sophomore defenseman Cutler Martin will receive a three-game suspension for his involvement in an after-the-whistle fight against Ohio State Sunday while sophomore forward Dexter Dancs will receive a two-game suspension from the Big Ten.

The 6-0, 211-pound Martin can be seen in this video delivering a takedown and then unloading a haymaker on a Buckeye while a linesman wrestled between the two players.

Dancs is not on the video but the 6-2, 205-pounder helped instigate the scrum with a crosscheck to the throat of a Buckeye after taking a shot from the butt of a stick.

Michigan had finished off the Scarlet and Gray 8-6 Sunday, rallying from a 5-3 deficit entering the third period, when the fisticuffs started.

In 19 games this season, Dancs has contributed five goals and four assists, and was on fire lately, with three goals and two assists in his last four games.

Martin has played in 20 of Michigan's 21 games this year and had a goal and six assists while recording a plus/minus of plus-6.

The two will both sit out this Thursday's exhibition against the U.S. Under-18 team while Martin will be out for both games at Penn State Jan. 28-30 and Dancs will miss the first game of the series.

The series is a critical matchup as Michigan bids to win the Big Ten title. The Wolverines share first place with Minnesota with 18 points, just three ahead of the Nittany Lions.
