Surprising Michigan Football players stats from 2022
Michigan Football is about to wrap up its spring practices with its annual Maize and Blue Spring Game on Saturday April 1.
Let's dig through some 2022 stats and find some interesting numbers you may not have known from last season.
JJ McCarthy threw for 2,719 passing yards in 2022. He fell 10 yards short of Jim Harbaugh's career high of 2,729.
Donovan Edwards had a 7.1 yard per carry average in 2023. He missed 1000 rushing yards by only 9, with 991 total.
Cornelious Johnson has led or tied for most receiving touchdowns, and had one of the two longest touchdown receptions, in each of the last three seasons.
Michael Barrett was second on the team in sacks with 3.5 for 36 yards.
Mike Sainristil was third on the team in tackles for loss with 6.5.
Kris Jenkins was 5th on the team in tackles. His 54 tackles were the most among defensive linemen.
No Michigan player on the 2023 roster forced a fumble in 2022. Michigan only had two last season, Mike Morris and Mazi Smith each had one.
Three freshmen, Will Johnson, Mason Graham, and Colston Loveland played in all 14 games in 2022.
Michigan had five players attempt and complete a single pass in 2022. Kalel Mullings, Alex Orji, Brandon Mann, Andy Maddox, and Donovan Edwards each went 1-1 for last year.
