Camden (N.J.) Wilson three-star athlete Travon King hasn’t received an offer from Michigan yet, but that doesn’t mean the Wolverines aren’t heavily pursuing the 6-4, 205-pounder. In fact, King was recently in Ann Arbor for a visit.

“Yeah, I was up there not too long ago,” he said. “I was there with [four-star running back] Iverson [Clement], and the Michigan coaches were talking to us about our recruitment. It went very well. We toured the facilities and sat down and ate lunch with Jim Harbaugh, and just talked about where we all stood in the recruiting process.”

Listed by Rivals.com as an “athlete,” questions have arisen regarding what position King might play in college. He made it clear, though, what the Michigan coaches see him as.

“A stand-up, outside linebacker,” he said. “Their defensive line coach, Coach [Greg] Mattison is recruiting me the hardest. He told me they were only recruiting one player at my position in the 2018 class.

“I don’t care what position I play, though. I’ll play whatever gets me on the field the fastest.”

Though he doesn’t have an offer yet, King said he plans on picking one up from the Wolverines during the May evaluation period.

“It’d be a huge deal if I got one,” he said. “It would be another offer from a great Big Ten school.”

The New Jersey native also made it clear, though, that the Wolverines wouldn’t necessarily vault to the top of his list if he were to receive an offer.

“It’s too early to say,” he explained. “I actually don’t know who any of my frontrunners are right now, because I haven’t sat down with my parents and started eliminating schools yet.”

Though he doesn’t have a date set, King said he would like to visit Michigan again sometime in the future. He also mentioned that the Wolverines’ recent recruiting success in New Jersey has definitely caught his attention, but that he’s not necessarily surprised by it for one main reason.

“It doesn’t really surprise me,” he said. “I guess it does a little bit, but then again not really just because South Jersey is loaded with talent.”
