Women's Gymnastics wins Big Ten title, sets sights on National Championship

The Michigan women's gymnastics team won the Big Ten championship on Saturday at the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Led by all-around winner Abby Heiskell, the Wolverines repeated as Big Ten champions. This championship marked the Wolverines' 26th Big Ten title in program history.

The Wolverines registered the first-ever 198-point score in Big Ten Championships history. Michigan's 198.200 topped Michigan State's 197.050 and Iowa's 196.950.

Sierra Brooks and Natalie Wojcik were the main contributors alongside Heiskell. Brooks won the individual title on the vault, and Wojcik won the individual title on the balance beam.

Heiskell not only won the all-around championship, but the senior also shared individual championships on the uneven bars and on the floor. Heiskell scored a 9.950 on each of her two individual championship performances.

The Wolverines are 23-1 on the season, with their lone loss coming to the second-ranked Oklahoma Sooners earlier this month. The No. 3-ranked Wolverines will await their placement in the NCAA Tournament, which will be announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Tuesday.

Michigan will look to repeat as national champions after the team won its first national title last season.
