Young receivers earning high marks from teammates in early spring

With Michigan suffering some losses from the wide receiver group after the season, some opportunities for playing time will be open for some of the younger players to try to step up and see the field.

Before playing time is determined, however, the Wolverines need to get through the spring first.

In only a handful of spring practices, one thing about the wide receiver group is being made abundantly clear: The program has options and competition for playing time will be fierce.

On top of the younger guys who have a year under their belt like Tyler Morris and Darrius Clemons, the Wolverines' addition of early enrollees Semaj Mordan and Fred Moore has been praised by teammates.

For an experienced player like Roman Wilson, he likes the direction of where the position group is headed so far.

"Fred and Semaj are really good additions to our team," Wilson said. "Being young guys and as far along as they are, I think they're really good. Tyler Morris, Darrius, all the guys are looking really good. I think the wide receiver room is in pretty good hands. They look good."

From a defensive perspective, Mike Sainristil also praised the addition of both Morgan and Moore and sees both of them excel.

Like Wilson, he too also views the wide receiver group, a position he's very familiar with, in good hands moving forward.

"The young guys that I think are doing really well right now are Semaj Morgan and Fred Moore," Sainristil said. "They're really looking good. Tyler Morris is doing really good. Darrius Clemons, he's doing good. I think the receivers are in a good spot right now.

"Especially knowing that Ronnie is gone, we need another guy to step into that position so I think they're battling and competing with each other as well helping each other. I like how our receivers are looking in the spring."
