Brutal. With nine of first 12 on the road.

Well that's what the Big Ten schedule is going to be, a brutal battle from start to finish.  This league is so top heavy the teams will just beat the living bejezus out of each other :)

I hope the Monday game thing doesn't become a regular thing, I really, I mean really, don't like that; at least in that schedule it looks like those are all away.

Looks like overall they play 9 home and 11 away games (I counted the JLA game as away), mainly I believe because this is the year that MSU has the extra home game (it does appear that they have kept that in the schedule rather than revert to 2 @ MSU and 2 @ UM).  I wonder if they will keep doing the every other year thing as time goes by; with the toughness of the Big Ten schedule overall you would think they would want to maximize as many home games as they can.  I know JLA isn't that far away, but it's a home game they might want back at Yost given the toughness of the schedule.

I know going through there is only a two game difference between home and away, but man when you just look at the schedule without actually counting things it just looks like they are always on the road.

I kind of like the last series of the year, Minnesota at UM, that could be a rockin' weekend of hockey.

Well I  wouldn't conclude that the schedule is brutal just from looking at the Big Ten piece.  It depends on how the non-conference schedule fills in around it too.

Having 2 home-and-home weekends with Ohio with games on Monday night, though, I agree with Puckhead, ugh!  The travel for the BigTen scheudle was already going to be bad for the athletes with trips necessary to Penn State, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and requiring an extra trip to Columbus just makes it worse.

I'll ask Red, but I think it's a fair point. Unless they're going to overly compensate with home non-conference games you wouldn't want a 9 and 11 rotation of home Big Ten games, I'd think.

U of M counts the JLA game as a home game, so the schedule is 10 and 10.  Recently I think MSU has more to complain about playing a home game in JLA then we do.  More U of M fans attend.

I view it as 9 home games, 10 away games and 1 neutral site game with last line change.
Not 9 and 11, that would be having that JLA game at Munn.

Now that might be the case, but it wasn't always that way. Things tend to cycle. I really look at that as a true neutral site game. Having the last line change might give some advantages, but the comfort of the home rink is about the same for both teams.

Even if more Michigan fans show up, the Joe isn't as intimate as Yost.
