Raleigh (N.C.) Sanderson three-star defensive tackle Alim McNeill anounced via Twitter that Michigan would be making the cut for him moving forward.

The 6-2, 260-pounder recently wrapped up a tour of stops that included visits to N.C. State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Duke and most recently Clemson, which took place on April 29. All but the Demon Deacons made his top ten.

There's a lot of local flavor on that list but McNeill is very intrigued by Michigan. He plans to visit very soon and is already building up Ann Arbor and U-M in his head.

"It’s going to be wild seeing the stadium at Michigan. It’s the biggest stadium and I’ve been trying to put in my head 109,000 people screaming at you," he said. "My dad has been telling me about the tradition there and I want to see it with my own eyes.”

Defensive coordinator Don Brown visited Sanderson High back in April and McNeill has been talking to defensive line coach Greg Mattison. McNeill is looking forward to his first in-depth conversation with coach Jim Harbaugh. They’ve communicated a little bit through direct message on Twitter.

“They really talk about how they really value defensive lineman there,” McNeill said. “I saw it myself. They have really good defensive lineman there and are the back bone of that defense. They helped everyone out.”

McNeill finished his junior season with 84 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, six sacks and one interception. He also added 69 rushing yards and six touchdowns and four catches for 24 yards and a score. He likes the tag of being called a “jumbo athlete.”
