Michigan redshirt sophomore Jordan Glasgow seems to be one of the more versatile players on Michigan’s defense, having practiced at a few different positions during his time in Ann Arbor.

He gave an update on Friday night as to where he’s practicing now.

“As of now, I’m taking most of my reps at ROVER, which is strong safety,” he explained. “I’ve been told that if I’m needed at VIPER, though, I might take some reps there too.”

Michigan’s secondary has received some criticism lately — mostly from cornerbacks coach Mike Zordich — but Glasgow explained that players have started to step up lately.

“We had a good practice today,” he said. “We’re a young group, and I’m actually one of the oldest guys in the secondary as a redshirt sophomore. Because of that, there’s a lot of room for us to grow, especially when guys know they need to step up — and that’s what’s been happening lately.”

Even though Glasgow admitted guys have been performing better, he also explained that there are still times where the inexperience of the unit shows.

“We mostly see it through miscommunications between guys,” he revealed. “I’m sure some of the most experienced players on our defense would have trouble with some of the stuff our offense throws at us though.

“We get 30 practices throughout camp, and there will be times where we don’t know what’s going on, and other practices where we’re great. We’re getting rid of the tiny mistakes, and getting closer to playing perfect.”

One player in the secondary, in particular, has really impressed Glasgow.

“I’d have to say Josh Metellus is our vocal leader,” he said. “He’s going to be a sophomore, but he’s the starting strong safety right now. He’s an extremely vocal person, and he’s someone everyone likes and listens to, even though he’s younger than most of the people in the secondary. He’s a very good leader within the DB group.”

It’s been well-documented that the whole Glasgow family — Graham, Ryan and now Jordan — all walked on at Michigan, and the first two went on to have tremendous careers. The youngest Glasgow talked about what it’s like not having his two older brothers around anymore.

“I’ve lost a brother every year I’ve been here, so I’ve gotten used to it,” he said with a laugh. “My brother that plays for the Lions [Graham] lives five minutes away from here, so it’s not like I don’t have someone close to me.

“I don’t get pressured into playing as many video games without them here,” he smirked. “But I also don’t have them here joking around, because those guys were my best friends. It’s hard to see them leave, but there’s good things about it too.”
