As we reported last Thursday, Michigan was working on a contract to keep Chris Partridge in Ann Arbor.
It's now a done deal.
Several sources have confirmed that Partridge has signed a new contract and will remain in Ann Arbor. He'd been courted by Alabama as linebackers coach but turned it down, and he'd also reportedly been coveted by some schools as a defensive coordinator.
Partridge moved up quickly after being hired as director of player personnel from Paramus (N.J.) Catholic. Head coach Jim Harbaugh called him a rising star in the profession when he first brought him in, predicting big things.
“It can’t be soon enough to get Chris Partridge as a full-time coach. It’s been that impressive,” Harbaugh said at the time. “Worst-case scenario, I can see him being in multiple roles, director of player development/coach/analyst on the football side. I just think he’s really talented.”
He's coached linebackers, and now there's chatter he'll coach safeties with Al Washington having been added to the staff. Washington is expected to coach linebackers and help with special teams.
