Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes three-star athlete Michael Barrett announce via Twitter that he has committed to Michigan.
Barrett picked up his Michigan offer back in March of 2017 and always seemed like a pretty legitimate target. The Michigan staff seemed quite interested in his versatile skill set and Barrett always reciprocated the attention.
In December, the 6-0, 200-pounder took his official visit to Ann Arbor with teammate and fellow U-M target, three-star offensive tackle Jalen Goss, and it looked like only a matter of time before he'd pull the trigger for the Wolverines. Time passed by and a pledge never occurred but it always felt like U-M was sitting at the top of Barrett's list.
Some more time went by and communication between Barrett and the U-M staff really slowed down. Georgia Tech and some other schools started to show more interest in Barrett and it looked like things were not going to align for the two parties. That was pretty clear when Barrett was telling other folks that Michigan was recruiting him as a running back which they weren't. Goss ultimately committed to Florida State and it started to look like Barrett may head to Tallahassee as well.
Barrett was really starting to feel the Noles but things fizzled quickly between the two parties and a scheduled official visit was cancelled. All of that led to Barrett coming full circle back around to U-M.
Barrett is commit No. 21 for Michigan in the 2018 class and gives the Wolverines four pledges from The Peach State (Myles Sims, Otis Reese and Christian Turner).
