Former Rice left tackle Calvin Anderson announced on Saturday that he will attend the University of Texas for his final year of eligibility, choosing the Longhorns over Michigan, Oklahoma and Auburn.

Anderson visited all four schools after he announced he would be a graduate transfer in 2018. He was primarily recruited by former U-M offensive coordinator Tim Drevno, who didn't tell Anderson he would be leaving Michigan — something that didn't sit well with the 6-foot-6, 300-pound lineman.

He is an Austin, Texas native, so he won't have to go far from home. His goal is to reach the NFL next season, and he decided that Texas gave him the best opportunity to do that.

Michigan sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson kept in contact with Anderson over the last couple weeks, and new U-M offensive line coach Ed Warinner made him a priority, but it wasn't enough.
