2017 Projection
Hawkins has outstanding hands and has been noted for his strong work ethic, giving him a chance to earn his coaches’ trust in fall camp next August. There are some open spots at wideout, but there’s also a lot of young, unproven talent, including in Hawkins’ class, at the position making his projection difficult to predict. Some combination of youngsters will play — if Hawkins works like he’s been known to, can pick up the offense and shows a willingness to block, he could get onto the field.
They Said It
Suffield Head Coach Drew Gamere: “Brad is a great teammate and is really a team guy. From a football standpoint on the field, his physical skills, in terms of his strength, are off the charts. He’s explosive and he has good speed for a kid his size, and he really goes to get the ball.
“His ability to go inside and make tough catches really translates to the Division I level, and he’s a tough, tough kid.”
Rivals.com Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Analyst Adam Friedman: "Hawkins is a well-rounded receiver. He runs solid routes and has very reliable hands. He’s really improved his speed and athleticism, and is not afraid to go up and make tough catches where he might take a hit.
“After committing to Michigan in 2016, he prepped for a year at Suffield Academy and continued to work on his craft. He has matured physically and now looks the part of a strong, tough and fast wide receiver. There is also an added benefit of him being a very good basketball player as well.”
