When San Diego (Calif.) Point Loma 2018 quarterback Kyle Grady was recruited by Michigan, the plan was for him to walk-on as a quarterback.

Now, the walk-on signee could be making a move to the wide receiver position.

“Wide receiver seems to be what they mainly see me as,” Grady said. “I’ll keep working at both unless I establish a spot at wide receiver or quarterback.

“I love the idea. I’ll play guard for Michigan if they need me to. I just love football.”

The feelings for Grady was remarkable as he signed his letter of intent and sent it off to Ann Arbor.

“It feels great to be a Michigan Wolverine,” Grady said. “There’s something about making it official, signing the papers, getting admitted, and such that makes it much more real.”

Even though a move to wide receiver might be inevitable, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound pro-style quarterback already looks up to Michigan quarterbacks Shea Patterson and Brandon Peters.

“I already look up to guys like Shea and Brandon,” Grady said. “As I get to know them better, I’ll be picking their brains and having a blast working with them.”

In order to earn a scholarship opportunity, Grady has a plan up his sleeve.

“I’m going to work harder than anyone else, prove myself, and trust the process,” Grady said. “Also, I’m versatile and open to playing other positions.”

Since joining the Wolverines as a commit, Grady developed a relationship with former Michigan quarterback commit Kevin Doyle from Washington (DC) St. John’s. Instead of sticking with the Maize and Blue, Doyle signed with Arizona on National Signing Day.

“I got to know Kevin Doyle over the past few months, but he ended up elsewhere and will do great things there,” Grady said. “We still keep in touch. I look forward to getting to know all my new teammates and bonding with them over the summer.”

Grady is currently focusing on getting to Ann Arbor and getting to work for his new head coach – Jim Harbaugh.

“I’m excited to get out to Ann Arbor for good,” Grady said. “Coming out in the beginning of the summer will really mark the start of this journey, so I can’t wait to move in and get working.”
