Karsch: From The Sidelines

Michigan radio sideline reporter Doug Karsch saw the Wolverines out-hit and out-wit Scott Frost’s squad.

Here are Karsch’s point-blank takes from the win over Nebraska, including touching on…

Michigan’s flying start against the Cornhuskers: “You know, it reminded me of the start against Florida in the bowl game a few years ago. I remember Jake Butt coming to the sideline and telling everybody, ‘You can see it in their eyes. They’re going to quit.’

“Nobody said that this week, but that’s what the game reminded me of, except this was more dominating. Michigan’s defense looked like they were in the Nebraska huddle, like they knew which play was coming. Afterwards, [junior linebacker] Devin Bush told me, ‘We watched a lot of film, and we were ready.’

“The offense, they were resetting the line of scrimmage. There were holes being blow open. They were totally moving Nebraska’s defensive line backwards.

“Its really easy to dismiss it because of Nebraska’s struggles, but that’s what they should have done with Western Michigan, that’s what they should have done with Southern Methodist.

“It’s what people told me would happen with an Ed Warinner offensive line. It gets better as the season goes on. It gets better the more time he has to work with these guys. It gets better when he’s got film to teach with. That’s what it looked like, man. It really did.

“These next two weeks are going to be interesting, and then that three game stretch — Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State is obviously the test. This was like a quiz. Those will be the test.”
