To be the champs, you have to beat the champs.
And that’s exactly what 24K did.
The little-known Florida program made its way to Pylon Atlanta and took down national powerhouse C1N, which won the tournament in 2019 (the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19), to capture the title.
While most didn’t know much about 24K heading into the weekend, the team should be a household name heading into the rest of the 7v7 season. After all, 24K also beat C1N in group play and notched victories over elite teams like Fast Houston and Domo, which won Pylon Dallas in January.
24K played quality defense throughout the tournament but had an offensive explosion in the championship game, winning 30-27 in a wild contest. Prospects like three-star wide receivers Rian Black and Jmariyae Robinson made huge plays in huge moments and propelled 24K to victory.
Led by New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, C1N looked like the favorite at the start of elimination play.
With a roster featuring Rivals250 tight end Jaleel Skinner, Clemson commit Adam Randall and Rivals250 wide receiver Sam Mbake, C1N won its opening, quarterfinal and semifinal contests by at least two scores, including an eye-popping 33-0 thrashing of Aces Elite.
C1N held a late lead over 24K in the championship game but gave up a score on the final drive of the game and could not get off one final play before time expired. It was a heartbreaking loss for Newton and his squad.
The other semifinalists at Pylon Atlanta were SOAR and Domo 2023-2025.
SOAR has put together some quality tournament performances this 7v7 tournament and will be a team to watch moving forward. Domo’s underclassmen team turned plenty of heads this weekend and proved that the program has a bright future.
Domo, EPS Blaze, Hotbed World and 412 Elite all advanced to the tournament quarterfinals and also churned out some impressive performances.
The Pylon 7v7 circuit will be back in action this weekend with another loaded tournament in Dallas.
