Leonard Taylor Decommits From Michigan

Springfield (Ohio) four-star tight end Leonard Taylor has decided to reopen his recruitment and decommit from Michigan. The 6-5, 240-pounder announced via Twitter that he's back on the market.

Before committing to Michigan, Taylor had a top three consisting of Notre Dame, Ohio State, and the Wolverines. He visited Ohio State earlier this summer for their Friday Night Lights camp and has been pretty open about wanting to visit, potentially multiple times, this fall for a game. He also plans to visit Notre Dame Sep. 17 when the Irish host Michigan State.

There were signs pointing to a potential decommitment from Taylor at the beginning of the summer. Taylor's good friend and teammate, Antwuan Johnson, committed to Michigan and played a role in getting Taylor to do the same. Johnson has now moved schools to Dayton Dunbar and is no longer a co-Michigan commit on the same team as Leonard.

There is a lot of time before Taylor has to put pen to paper but this is not a good sign as things felt like they were trending toward the Buckeyes for a while. Taylor is the No. 6 tight end and No. 118 overall prospect in the country and is the No. 5 player in Ohio. Urban Meyer and his staff would like to keep a talent like Taylor inside the borders of his home state and a decommitment from Michigan may be the first domino to doing just that.
