The Michigan football spring game that was scheduled to take place this Saturday evening at the Big House has been cancelled, per an official release from the school.
The Ann Arbor forecast is predicting a high of 47 degrees that day, along with thunderstorms, 15-mile per hour winds and a 100 percent chance of precipitation.
"We want to ensure the safety of our fans, as well as the student athletes and staff," said Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel.
"We also wanted to provide as much notice in advance for fans and the families of our players that were considering attending."
The game will not be rescheduled at a later date, due to the limited number of spring practices remaining for the team, along with the start of finals next week.
"We are disappointed for our fans and players' families that this opportunity to see our team compete at Michigan Stadium will not be possible due to weather concerns," said head coach Jim Harbaugh. "We made a decision that was in the best interest of our fans, student-athletes and volunteer staff needed to organize this event."
Harbaugh revealed yesterday that he was not having the event be a game-like setting anyway, and that it would just be "scrimmaging and situations."
