Redshirt sophomore quarterback Alex Malzone announced his intentions to transfer on Wednesday afternoon.

This is what the signal-caller posted on his Instagram page:

"It has been an awesome three years playing for the University of Michigan that I will cherish forever," he wrote. "It was a dream of mine to play for the University of Michigan, and it's been an honor to wear the winged helmet.

"I will be graduating in April and will become a graduate transfer with two years left to play. Thank you to the Michigan coaching staff that has helped me mature and develop over these years. I've had great experiences with this team and have made relationships that will last a lifetime.

"I'm excited to continue my journey playing this great game. Go Blue!"

Malzone redshirted his freshman season at Michigan in 2015, before appearing in just two games over the next two years — against Hawaii in 2016 and versus Minnesota this season. He did not attempt a pass in either game.

Malzone came to Michigan as a four-star quarterback out of Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice in the 2015 class, and was recruited by former head coach Brady Hoke.

He is the third U-M player to transfer in the past three days, joining redshirt junior quarterback Wilton Speight and redshirt junior receiver Drake Harris.
