Hassan Haskins Goes Blue
Eureka (Mo.) High two-star running back Hassan Haskins announced via Twitter that he has committed to Michigan.
The 6-2, 195-pounder just picked up his offer from Michigan earlier this month but immediately put the Wolverines at the top of his list. It didn't take him long to set up an official visit for this weekend's game against Rutgers, and once on campus, it didn't take him long to pull the trigger.
Michigan is actually the second Big Ten school to offer Haskins after Purdue tendered an offer last spring. Things cooled between Haskins and the Boilermakers but a few other schools, including Boise State and Iowa, have been in contact but neither program had offered. Memphis, Western Kentucky and Wyoming were a few other schools involved with Haskins and he recently took an official visit to Wyoming (Sept. 15).
Michigan now has two running backs committed in the 2018 class in Haskins and Buford (Ga.) High three-star Christian Turner. The Michigan staff had been targeting a few other running backs throughout the process but a late-cycle offer to Haskins indicates that there wasn't much traction with the other prospects. Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes three-star athlete Michael Barrett is still on the board and will officially visit for the Ohio State game. He's been high on Michigan throughout the process so it'll be interesting to see if Haskins' commitment effect his visit plans or how he views U-M.
