According to a report released by the NCAA, Michigan drew a total of 200,190 fans to its 18 home basketball games last season, good for an average of 11,121 per game. The official seating capacity of Crisler Center is listed at 12,707, meaning the Wolverines drew 1,586 fewer people than what the arena can hold.
Michigan’s 11,121 average fans per game ranked 33rd in the country, and 10th in the Big Ten. Here's a look at how the rest of the conference stacked up.
The Big Ten, as a whole, drew more fans on average than any other conference by a wide margin, averaging 12,235 attendees per game — the ACC had the next most, with 11,257.
Unsurprisingly, Kentucky led the country with 23,461 fans per game, while Syracuse, Louisville, North Carolina and Creighton rounded out the rest of the top five.
Though Michigan ranked 33rd nationally in home game attendance, it checked in at No. 16 in total attendance for all of its games combined — home, road and neutral — drawing a total of 465,026.
The Wolverines had a disappointing first few months of the season last year, before going on a tear in February and March, culminating in a Big Ten Tournament championship and an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen.
Michigan tips off its 2017-2018 season on Nov. 11 at home against North Florida.
