Brown to announce today at 3:00 CST

Michigan is looking to address a number of positions in the class of 2006, but it could be argued that safety is the most important. After not getting a single prospect at that position in the 2005 class, the Wolverines came out firing this past February offering, and interesting, the top prospects at that position. One of those prospects is Columbus (Ind.) East's Steve Brown who will decide today between UM and Notre Dame.
The 6-0, 197-pound Brown really burst onto the scene at this past May's Ann Arbor NIKE Camp when he posted a 4.39 40-yard dash and recorded a SPARQ Rating of 91.21, one of the best in the entire country. When Rivals.com released their preseason top 100, Brown was on there in the No. 65 slot and was ranked as the nation's No. 4 cornerback.

Michigan and Notre Dame appeared, from the start, to be the two teams that would vie for the four-star prospect's signature and as he enters his 3:00 CST press conference at Columbus East High School, those are the only two teams remaining. Ann Arbor has been buzzing and many feel confident Brown will in fact pick the Wolverines.
TheWolverine.com, in partnership with Rivals.com, will be covering the press conference live today from Columbus, Ind., and will have his announcement as soon as it is made. Stay tuned to TheWolverine.com and to The Fort for up-to-the-minute updates on Brown's announcement.
