Cameron Colvin Chooses Oregon

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle five-star wide receiver Cameron Colvin, Rivals.com’s No. 2 wide receiver prospect nationally, announced tonight on ESPN that he will attend Oregon. Colvin, thought to have been leaning toward USC and Michigan during most of his recruitment, apparently received the full court press from the Ducks before pulling the trigger.

Colvin said he was still torn Sunday, when he seemed to characterize his recruitment as a two-team race between U-M and USC.

“You’ve got Michigan, they’re a great school and have been recruiting me from the beginning,” said Colvin. “They are a prestigious program and it’s everything you could ask for. I could go in and learn from Braylon [Edwards].

“You have USC. They’re close to home and they’re a great program – National Champs. I could go in and learn from Mike Williams. Both of those schools are all you could ask for. It’s pretty much back to where do I want to live. Do I want to stay on the West Coast or do I want to broaden my horizons?”

Colvin added “Oregon’s in there, too,” noting a lot of his De La Salle friends and teammates are already there, including Jackie Bates and Willie Glasper from this year’s recruiting class.

Apparently, the late push was enough to keep him closer to home.

With Colvin’s decision, Michigan finishes its 2004 recruiting class with 22 scholarship players.
