Peppers' announcement will be televised live at 5:15 p.m. Eastern on ESPNU. He will make the selection from the ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn., and it's widely believed that Michigan will be the choice.
Should he opt to don the Maize and Blue cap, Peppers would be the highest-ranked recruit to commit to Michigan in the recorded history of recruiting. Quarterbacks Drew Henson (1998) and Ryan Mallett (2007), both ranked No. 4, are the previous highs. A pledge from Peppers would add 233 points to Michigan's team recruiting rankings, vaulting U-M from eighth to fourth.

Would a commitment from Peppers assist Michigan in reeling in more top-ranked recruits? While he doesn't have a direct connection to Woodbridge (Va.) defensive end Da'Shawn Hand, the internet age of recruiting provides plenty of opportunities for to players to interact. 2014 Michigan pledges like Michael Ferns and Wilton Speight have worked hard to help lure top talent to join them, and Peppers is likely to add to that effort.
While Peppers would be a huge addition to Michigan's 2014 recruiting class, one man does not make or break the group. He joins not only Ferns and Speight, but seven other 2014 pledges, in a group that is expected to range from 16-20 eventual signees. The talent already in Michigan's class - and that which is yet to join the fold - will come together to contend for tops in the nation, especially if Peppers does the expected and picks U-M this afternoon.
