Devin Asiasi Goes Blue

In probably the most surprising news of the day, Concord De La Salle tight end Devin Asiasi has committed to the Wolverines.

Asiasi took official visits to Washington (Jan. 15), Michigan (Jan. 22), Alabama (Jan. 27), and USC (Jan. 29). Heading into National Signing Day, all four schools seemed to have a legitimate shot in landing him, but the Wolverines are the school that prevailed.

Earlier in the process it looked certain that Asiasi would remain somewhere out west whether it be UCLA (who he eliminated recently), USC, or Washington. As the process moved on, Alabama seemed to be in the driver's seat, but in the closing days, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan sealed the deal.

His commitment brings Michigan to 29 total members of the 2016 class, and likely solidifies a top-five finish in the final national rankings.

Asiasi also makes commitment No. 3 in the state of California, a talent-rich area that Harbaugh hopes to harvest while at U-M.
