Early signing day is officially over for Michigan.
The Wolverines inked the majority of their 2020 commitment and even added a little late drama towards the end of the day.
Here are my five takeaways from ESD.
1. Michigan Solves QB Conundrum
Michigan didn’t get its top 2020 quarterback target in Rivals100 recruit CJ Stroud. Instead, the four-star prospect from California inked with rival Ohio State. Michigan put all its eggs in the Stroud basket and made things interesting. But of course, the Wolverines fell short. Still, early signing day didn’t pass without a signal-caller in the class. The Wolverines earned a late commitment from three-star quarterback Dan Villari. A little known prospect from New York, Villari is a project. He has a big arm and moves well at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, but he has a lot of work to do mechanically. It wasn’t a splash land by any means. But Michigan was forced to scramble late due to the unforeseen medical retirement of long-time quarterback commit JD Johnson and made what it could of a dire situation.
