It was a rough season for Michigan.
Still, the Wolverines still found a way to finish strong on the recruiting trail this cycle and inked some of the nation's top prospects, including quarterback of the future JJ McCarthy and top overall target Donovan Edwards.
That doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement, though. As the new year begins, here is a look at five New Year's resolutions for Michigan recruiting.
1. Figure Out The Harbaugh Extension
This situation is getting a little silly. While Michigan did a fantastic job of keeping most of its 2021 recruiting class intact during the early period and landing top overall target Donovan Edwards, stability questions continue to hinder U-M on the trail. If Michigan wants to land elite level prospects like five-star corners Will Johnson and Domani Jackson next cycle, this deal needs to get done pronto. A few key recruits have left Michigan off their top schools list, and other programs are using this situation against the Wolverines. Honestly, it’s pretty amazing that recruiting has suffered more from the mismanagement of this extension. Meetings are supposed to take place Monday. Figure it out and get rolling as the focus turns to the 2022 recruiting class.
