Interviews with Matt Trannon and Daniel Horton

The Wolverine spoke on Wednesday with 6-7 forward Matt Trannon of Flint (Mich.) Northern and 6-3 combo guard Daniel Horton of Cedar Hills (Tex.) H.S. Each is among Michigan's top recruiting targets for the Class of 2002.
Trannon said that although he does not currently have a definite list of schools, Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Ohio State, North Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, UCLA, Wisconsin, Syracuse, and Connecticut have been giving him the most attention. U-M and MSU are the only two of those schools that he has visited.

Like many schools, U-M is recruiting Trannon for both basketball and football. He acknowledged that it is his desire to play both in college. Trannon said that no school leads; he hopes to make a decision in the fall.
Trannon is ranked No. 17 nationally by School Sports, No. 24 by Prep Stars Recruiter's Handbook, No. 24 by Hoop Scoop, No. 25 by Prep Spotlight magazine, and No. 36 by The Sporting News.
Horton has recently emerged as one of the Wolverines' top targets since they hired assistant coach Charles Ramsey, who had been recruiting him at California previously. Michigan is recruiting Horton as a point guard, though he can play both guard positions.
Horton gave a list consisting of Florida, Michigan, Stanford, Illinois, Arizona, Texas, and Memphis He said that Florida and Michigan are the top two with Florida the leader.
As things stand now, Horton hopes to make a commitment this summer. He said that he wants to visit his top schools soon, perhaps in July, before reaching a decision.
Horton is ranked No. 27 nationally by The Sporting News, No. 38 by Prep Stars, No. 48 by School Sports, and No. 51 by Hoop Scoop.
