Bennie Oosterbaan's No. 47 is back in circulation, and redshirt sophomore linebacker Jake Ryan is the man wearing it.
Oosterbaan, one of only two three-time Michigan All-Americans (along with Anthony Carter), won nine letters in football, basketball and baseball in 1925-27. He spent the next 20 years as a U-M assistant coach before taking the head coaching job in 1948-58, winning a national title in 1948.

Oosterbaan's family was honored before the game in a ceremony at midfield, becoming the second Michigan Legend to Desmond Howard. Receiver Junior Hemingway wore No. 21 last year and Roy Roundtree wears it this season.
Ron Kramer's No. 87 will be reintroduced Sept. 15, Gerald Ford's No. 48 Oct. 13 and the Wistert brothers (Francis, Albert and Alvin) Nov. 10.
