Kareem Walker Statement

In a statement to Rivals.com Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Analyst Adam Friedman, five-star Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic running back Kareem Walker spoke on his official visit to Michigan over the weekend:
"I had good trip to Michigan," Walker wrote. "It's the second time I've been there but the first time with this staff. I have a friend on the team so it was good to see him as well. The game atmosphere was tremendous, fans really love the team. I enjoyed speaking with the coaches and meeting everyone. I know people are trying to figure my situation out and are creating rumors all over the place. I'm humbled that many people care about what I'm doing but at the same time I'm a low key guy and not looking to make a story for someone when there really isn't any story."

Walker, the No. 1 running back and No. 21 overall prospect in the nation, is currently committed to Ohio State, but plans to take all five of his official visits. The Buckeyes' coaching staff is aware of his plans, and while they (obviously) would prefer he not take the trips, they're not willing to try to stop him from taking any of them, and risk alienating their top 2016 pledge.
Michigan will remain a contender for Walker, and the trip this weekend helped make them a more realistic options for him down the road.
