Former Michigan guard Trey Burke is back in the NBA, this time with the New York Knicks where he’s playing with Tim Hardaway Jr.

Burke scored five points in an MLK Day win over Brooklyn, but that didn’t tell the story, the New York Post wrote.

“The numbers don’t tell the story of Burke’s outing. He made his first shot, notched five points in eight minutes with two assists. But he penetrated in all the nooks and crannies, pushed the pace and had the offense humming when he oversaw the Knicks’ lead climb from three to 11 points in a matter of three minutes.”

“Trey is a very good player,’’ rookie guard Frank Ntilikina said. “We have three different [type] point guards now. [He] makes the team step up every day and bring something else to the team and every day in practice.”

“I felt pretty good, picking and choosing my spots, trying to get a rhythm,’’ Burke said. “My first shot helped me out — the two shots I missed looked good. That’s what the team needs from me. Penetration, being aggressive, staying in attack mode and energy on defense.”

Updates on Burke and the rest of U-M’s NBA contingent from the past few weeks:
