Ahrens, brother of former U-M recruit and current Spartan Kyle Ahrens, has improved his stock after a great summer. Missouri, Purdue and several others offered after he impressed, bringing his offer total to 12. Vanderbilt offered Ahrens July 3rd, followed by Xavier and Iowa State.

Purdue is one school he plans to check out soon.

"Purdue is a great college and obviously they have great coaching staff and players and they know what it takes to win," Ahrens said a few weeks back. "I plan on getting to campus when I can."

The 6-5 shooter was voted Ohio Division III co-player of the year by the Associated Press after averaging 22.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last year.

The Wolverines have three 2018 commitments, all in-staters … Detroit East English point guard David DeJulius, East Lansing (Mich.) power forward Brandon Johns and Clarkston center Taylor Currie … and currently have room for one more player, though they could likely take at least two given the possibility of attrition.
