According to the Chicago Tribune, Northwestern head coach Chris Collins wants to hire Michigan assistant Billy Donlon away from the Wolverines.

Billy Donlon is from Northbrook, Ill., graduated from Collins’ alma mater (Glenbrook North) and grew up around NU’s program, The Tribune reports. His father Bill Donlon Sr., assisted under Bill Foster and Ricky Byrdsong from 1987-94.

Donlon joined John Beilein's staff at Michigan last year after six years as the head coach at Wright State (109-94).

In a March story by the Tribune’s Shannon Ryan, Donlon called Collins “a great friend and like a big brother.”

Donlon would replace Pat Baldwin, who left to take the head coaching job at Milwaukee.

Watch for more on this development in the hours to come.
