Michigan received a big commitment from East Lansing (Mich.) rising senior Brandon Johns Thursday, and they also got another addition Friday, poaching their 2019 pledge for reclassification.

Currie, a Rivals.com three-star prospect out of Clarkston, Mich., is ahead of the game academically. He’ll turn 17 in August and will be 18 prior to his freshman season at Michigan..

“I am reclassifying to 2018 and I’m very excited,” Currie said, noting head coach John Beilein was excited for him, too.

Currie helped lead Clarkston to the state championship game, beating Grand Rapids Christian and Michigan State signee Xavier Tillman. He notched his best game of the year, a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

U-M’s three-man, 2018 class now consists of three Michiganders in Currie, Johns and point guard David DeJulius. The Wolverines have room for one more in the 2018 class, though attrition (Moe Wagner, potentially, leaving for the NBA, or a possible transfer) makes it likely there will be at least two more joining the class.
