In a bit of a surprise, the AP Poll and College Football Rankings differ for the Michigan football program.
In the first rankings release of the 2022 season on Tuesday, the Wolverines check in at No. 5 overall, with Clemson taking the fourth spot in the rankings.
The top four spots in the playoff include Tennessee taking the top spot, Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson.
U-M’s lone ranked opponent left before facing the Buckeyes is Illinois, who come in at No. 16.
