Kody Jones surprised many when he gave Michigan a verbal commitment in early February.
After all, the four-star defensive back from Germantown (Tenn.) High is an out-of-region recruit that has no ties to the program and gave a pledge without ever having visited.

Still, Jones felt a connection with the Michigan coaching staff and gave the Wolverines a commitment over offers from Auburn, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M and others.
