Freshman defensive end Corey Malone-Hatcher announced his medical retirement from football July 4, citing an Achilles tendon injury that just hasn't healed.
Malone-Hatcher, a four-star prospect, was one of the leaders in helping assemble the Wolverines' outstanding 2017 group.
Malone-Hatcher enrolled in January but was never fully cleared medically.
NCAA rules will allow Malone-Hatcher to keep his scholarship as a student, but it won't count against Michigan's 85 total allotted football tenders.
