On Wednesday, 16 high school players signed their letters of intent to play football at the University of Michigan.

One of those 16 was Orlando (Fla.) Olympia four-star dual-threat quarterback Joe Milton, who U-M coach Jim Harbaugh talked about Wednesday night at a press conference.

“He’s blessed by mom, dad and God,” Harbaugh said of Milton. “He is very physically talented. He’s got a real fire to be great. Every time you’re around him, he’s always working on something. He walks down the hall in school and he’s working a move or a drop. He thinks about football all the time, sending us videos on daily progress. He’s chomping at the bit to know the system and know the playbook.”

Milton never wavered from Michigan, even after the commitment of former Ole Miss sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson, saying he was 1000 percent committed to the Wolverines. He made good on that promise and will be enrolling in January.

“He’s got an unbelievable drive to be really great,” Harbaugh said. “I love that about Joe.”

Milton is expected to redshirt his freshman year, as he will start behind Patterson, redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Peters and freshman quarterback Dylan McCaffrey on the depth chart — but he will compete and it’s always possible that could change.

Currently, Michigan has the No. 16 ranked recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.com. Milton is the No. 11 ranked quarterback.

He is listed as a dual-threat guy, but he prefers to call himself a pocket passer. He can also throw a football over 70 yards through the air.

On one of Milton’s first visits to Michigan, he was walking with Harbaugh through Schembechler Hall when the pair ran into sophomore tight end Nick Eubanks — who is 6-foot-5, 240 pounds. Eubanks played in just four games this season before getting hurt and missing the rest of the year.

Harbaugh noticed Eubanks sizing up Milton — who is listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds.

“Relax, Nick! He’s not a tight end, he’s a quarterback,” Harbaugh said. “Smiles broke out. Joe Milton is very impressive looking, he keeps improving. You ask him to do something, suggest something to him and next thing you know you have a video a few days later of him doing it.”

In the future, you might just see Eubanks catching passes from Milton.
