Hamden (Conn.) Hamden Hall Country Day School tight end Luke Schoonmaker announced via Twitter that he committed to Michigan.

Schoonmaker impressed the Wolverine coaching staff during the Sacred Heart satellite camp earlier this year and quietly picked up an offer from the U-M staff. At 6-6, 225 pounds, Schoonmaker does need to add weight but he ran a sub-4.6 forty-yard dash at the camp in June and the staff absolutely fell in love with his overall athleticism and size for the position.

Given the timing of Schoonmaker's commitment it feels like he was only given the green light to pull the trigger after U-M missed on four-star Jeremy Ruckert but that's apparently not the case. The staff really likes his upside at tight end and also loves the fact that he doubles as a high school quarterback.
