Michigan Football: Saturday Was A Team Loss, According To Khaleke Hudson

Despite Michigan’s 14-10 loss to Michigan State on Saturday, sophomore viper Khaleke Hudson said the team hasn't changed the way it practices the last few days.

“We treat every practice the same,” he said. “We’re moving fast and working hard out there, so nothing has changed — we always come in with the same mentality.”

Defensively, that’s probably a good thing, as the Wolverines held the Spartans to just 252 yards of offense.

The offense is the unit that needs to pick up its game, as it was only able to muster a measly 10 points and 300 yards on Saturday.

However, Hudson isn’t about to put the loss solely on that side of the ball.

“We’re together, and we don’t tell them to just get out of the way because of what happened,” he explained. “It was a team loss, not just an offensive or defensive loss. We’re not treating them any differently.”

One of the players who seemed to take Saturday’s defeat extra hard was sophomore safety Josh Metellus, who was spotted crouching down on the field after the game with his head in his hands.

“That’s my boy,” Hudson said. “We’re super cool. We came here together and have always been tight off the field. We hang with each other and are enjoying our time here.

“He took that game real serious. Nobody likes losing, especially in a personal game like that. We’ve put it behind us, though, and need to bounce back and get a win this weekend.”

Indiana is the next opponent on the schedule, and the Hoosiers have been known to give Michigan everything it can handle in recent years.

“They throw fades to some nice big receivers,” Hudson observed. “We’re treating them like a good team. We know they’re going to give us their best shot, and we’ll do the same.”

The Hoosiers have been known for their up-tempo fast-paced offenses as of late, which is a complete contrast to what MSU ran. However, the sophomore viper said the defense will be able to handle it.

“It’s not going to be a challenge for us, because we’re prepared for anything an offense throws at us,” he explained. “In spring ball, our own offense gave us great looks, so it won’t be a challenge going from a two-tight end offense like Michigan State’s to a spread offense like Indiana’s.”

There's not much doubt the defense will have success on Saturday. It's now up to the offense to hold up its end of the bargain.
