Rivals released its top 100 players for the class of 2019 yesterday, and came out with the rest of the top 250 earlier this afternoon.
Although Michigan doesn’t have any commits rated from 100-250, it has plenty of targets scattered throughout.
Here’s a quick look at some of the Wolverines’ notable targets ranked from 100-250, rated from highest to lowest.
Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon four-star dual-threat quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. received a scholarship offer from the Wolverines in late June, and made it clear that his recruitment is wide open, despite the fact his father is the current receivers coach at Oregon. Johnson is rated as the sixth-best quarterback in the country, and the third-best dual-threat.
Detroit Martin Luther King four-star safety Marvin Grant has been building a solid relationship with Michigan, and said he'll definitely be in contact with the coaching staff more after Sept. 1, which is when coaches are allowed to start calling recruits in his class. The fact that Grant's friends and former teammates — current Michigan players sophomore cornerback Lavert Hill and freshman cornerback Ambry Thomas — are already on the Wolverines' roster certainly won't hurt in Grant's recruitment.
Michigan offered Crystal Lake (Ill.) Crystal Lake South four-star offensive tackle Trevor Keegan in late June after an impressive showing at one of the Wolverines' one-day camps. Keegan then made another appearance in Ann Arbor for the recent barbecue, and said that Michigan is "right there at the top" for him.
This may be a surprise to some, but Detroit Cass Tech four-star running back Jaren Mangham actually does not have a Michigan offer yet. Whether or not he receives one will only be determined with time, but he made it clear in late June that a potential offer would be a game-changer for him.
Kentwood (Mich.) East Kentwood four-star defensive tackle Mazi Smith's day couldn't have gone much better at Michigan's barbecue, as he picked up a much-coveted offer from the Wolverines. In addition, Smith immediately put Michigan in his top five, and said the visit was the best one he's had so far.
Belleview (Fla.) High four-star offensive tackle Michael Tarquin took a visit to Michigan in late June, and explained afterward that the visit increased Michigan's odds "drastically." He also said that he loves how creative Jim Harbaugh is, especially in the way he wants to put the "student" back in "student athlete."
