Michigan linebackers happy to have Chris Partridge back in the fold

Where there was a pre-existing relationship or not, the Michigan football program is rejoicing at the fact that it was able to bring Chris Partridge back to where it all started for the assistant coach.

After taking on multiple roles for the Wolverines and departing to become defensive coordinator for Ole Miss, Partridge returns to coach a hungry linebacker room that is filled to the brim with talent.

And, not to mention, a group that is happy to see him back.

While most of the players that Partridge recruited to Ann Arbor have come and gone, Barrett is one of the few that remain who knew Partridge during his previous stint.

Needless to say, he's happy to see a familiar face in the fold.

"I was excited," Barrett said when he heard of Partridge's return. "He was the guy that recruited me here, he got me here. He helped me with my special teams work he got me on the field on special teams when I first got here. He was a great coach while he was here. I got really close to him during his time here. I was excited when I heard he was coming back.

"(He brings) a different outlook. Enthusiasm and he has a way to get everybody fired up. Everybody ready to go."

Even those who didn't know Partridge, his addition has been welcomed and praised by the linebacker group.

For Junior Colson, he has quickly become a fan of Partridge as a person, not just the coach.

"He's phenomenal," Colson said. "He's a great guy. He really knows the game, he really knows the game of football. He really knows the linebackers. The way he's been able to dissect our film and the way he's been able to coach us, especially on the field, those quick corrections and all that has been phenomenal."
