Michigan begins its long partnership with Nike and Jordan Jumpman brand tonight at midnight (Aug. 1), and fans will have an opportunity to buy gear at the M-Den on State Street - and celebrate with a D.J. and the Michigan Marching Band.
The celebration will begin with a block party scheduled for the downtown store location from 10 p.m. Sunday (July 31) through 2 a.m. The Michigan Marching Band will be joined by cheer and dance program members in addition to special appearances throughout the night and early morning hours.
Most product lines will be available for sale at M Den on Aug. 1 with the exception the official Jordan Brand football jersey and the Jordan Trainer One shoe. Those items will be available exclusively at the M Den starting Aug. 6.
More information is available at MDen.com.
All non-M Den retail outlets will have Michigan gear available starting Aug. 2 with the football jersey and Jordan Trainer One available at select stores starting Aug. 8.
The interest in Michigan's return to the Nike family has been significant, and the launch celebration will extend to the state's largest city, Detroit, with a private press event for the unveiling of Michigan's football uniforms on Tuesday (Aug. 2). TheWolverine.com will be on hand to cover it with Charles Woodson and others expected in attendance.
Nike will supply all 31 of U-M's athletic teams with uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment. U-M and Nike also will collaborate throughout the agreement on innovation initiatives in sports technology, design and best practices.
"This event will demonstrate the pride felt for our great university, and our community’s love of Michigan Athletics," Michigan A.D. Warde Manuel said. "We will have coverage throughout the event on mgoblue.com and our many social media platforms.
"While financial details and comments related to apparel design will be heavily consumed in the media this week, we maintain equal excitement about the long-term prospects of our partnership with the NIKE and Jordan Brand teams."
